GUR WALE CHAWAL / JAGGERY RICE / GUD KE CHAWAL
INGREDIENTS
- Rice – 1 cup
- Jaggery crushed – ¾ cup or as per taste
- Pinch of salt
- Water – 2 cup
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Bay leaf – 1
- Cinnamon stick – small piece
- Clove – 1
- Cardamom – 3
- Fennel seeds – 2 tsp
- Fried dry fruits of your choice for garnish
METHOD
Clean , wash , rinse and soak the rice for 20 mins .
Heat a pan and crackle bay leaf + fennel seeds + clove + cardamom + cinnamon .
Drain and add the rice and give a nice mix.
Add 2 cup of water + salt and give a mix.
When the water reaches the rice level , add the crushed jaggery and give a gentle mix.
Cover and cook lowest flame till the rice is fully cooked.
Once done off the flame .
Let it rest for 15 mins.
Now open and fluff it with a fork .
Garnish with fried dry fruits .
Rice is ready to serve .
NOTE
- We can use any rice .
- Colour of the rice depends on the jaggery we use.
- We can also add saffron
