GUR WALE CHAWAL / JAGGERY RICE / GUD KE CHAWAL

 INGREDIENTS

  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Jaggery crushed – ¾  cup or as per taste
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water – 2 cup
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Cinnamon stick – small piece
  • Clove – 1
  • Cardamom – 3
  • Fennel seeds – 2 tsp
  • Fried dry fruits of your choice for garnish

METHOD

Clean , wash , rinse and soak the rice for 20 mins .

Heat a pan and crackle bay leaf + fennel seeds + clove + cardamom + cinnamon .

Drain and add the rice and give a nice mix.

Add 2 cup of water + salt and give a mix.

When the water reaches the rice level , add the crushed jaggery and give a gentle mix.

Cover and cook lowest flame till the rice is fully cooked.

Once done off the flame .

Let it rest for 15 mins.

 Now open and fluff it with a fork .

Garnish with fried dry fruits .

Rice is ready to serve .

NOTE

  1. We can use any rice .
  2. Colour of the rice depends on the jaggery we use.
  3. We can also add saffron
